8 Gifts for Bookworms (Besides Books)

If you have a bookworm in the family, then you have experienced the frustration of holiday gift shopping.

Literally everyone in my family: What do you want for Christmas, your birthday, Leif Erikson Day, etc? Me: Books. Family: Okay, but what else? Me: *sweats nervously*

Listen, bookworms want books, money for books, or new shelves on which to put their books. However, I have a lot of family who insist on buying me other things. If you are looking for things to buy for your favorite bookworm besides books, have no fear. Here’s a handy-dandy list for you.

1. Candles I love good smelling things. Candles, wax melts, all that crap. I especially like to smell those good smelling things while I’m reading. Something about earthy scents and the warm glow of a candle really adds to the reading experience. A lot of bookworms like candles so load them up.

2. Blankets & Pillows Reading is ten times the fun when you’re nice and cozy. Paradise is curling up in a big, comfy chair, wrapping up in a blanket, lighting all those good smelling candles, and diving into a book. If you can find book themed blankets or pillows, even better!

3. Book Merch A lot of popular books have merchandise such as clothing, posters, collectables, etc. If your favorite bookworm has a favorite book or book series, they will love the related merchandise. If you have a Harry Potter lover to buy for, you have enough merchandise to bury a small village to pick from.

4. Book Paraphernalia Reading sometimes required equipment. A go-to gift idea is something that will make your bookworm’s life easier, like a really nice bookmark or a reading light.

5. Coffee or Tea (and cute mugs)

Along with candles and cozy blankets, I love having a toasty cup of coffee or tea while I read. Also, coffee and tea tastes even better is a really cute mug. Go ahead and add mugs, coffee grounds/coffee pods, and/or tea to your shopping list.

6. Journals A lot of bookworms also like to write. I personally use a lot of journals, whether it’s for jotting down random ideas or planning a novel. You can get journals from practically anywhere, so this is a great last minute gift idea.

7. Subscriptions There are a lot of companies now that offer monthly book-related subscriptions, such as book clubs or crate subscriptions. If you want a gift that keeps on giving, a monthly subscription is a great idea.

8. Book and Movie Bundles I know I said this was a list of gift idea other than books, but honestly, the bookworms just really want books. If you really want to get them something else to unwrap, then do a book and movie bundle. There are a lot of books that have been made into films, so you can give a book with its matching movie as a two-in- one gift.
